PAUL JENKINS

Well-known and respected as a patient and skilled trainer in New Zealand, in recent years Paul Jenkins has made his mark in Queensland from his Sunshine Coast base, achieving great results with a small team of horses. Patience has been the key with each of his talented charges. Paul is justifiably proud of the hands-on approach that allows each horse to reach its full potential. "I like to think that we get the best out of them by being careful with them," he said, adding that with regard to stable size, "big is not always best!“.

There is a camaraderie amongst the trainers calling the Sunshine Coast home and with expansion on the cards the base's influence is only going to increase. "It will be the jewel in Queensland Racing's crown," Paul said. "The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is extremely well run and is only going to go from strength to strength." At Adrenaline we’ve always been fans of the big track with its wide, open spaces and lean towards sending horses there to build their confidence whenever possible.

Career highlights for Paul include Group One victories for Bazelle (Auckland Cup, Zabeel Classic) and King Keitel (Doomben Cup). Currently happy with 15 to 20 horses in work, Paul is hoping to expand a little as boxes are added to the already first-class training facilities on offer at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club located just over 100km north of Brisbane and currently home to star three-year-old Gypsy Goddess.

Paul’s a hands-on trainer whose strike rate is higher than many leading trainers. What makes this even more impressive is that the stable of horses he does this with are all from the lower end of the price spectrum. This is a great display of his dedication to getting his horses right and placing them in races that are to their best advantage.

He’s a valued part of the Adrenaline team and we are delighted to be working with him.
